Sweet and Sour Prawns

Ingredients

  • For Prawns Batter
  • Prawns (Shelled & Deveined) : 1/2 Kg
  • Soy Sauce : 1 Tbsp
  • Ginger and Garlic Paste : 1 Tsp
  • All-purpose Flour : 1/2 Cup
  • Corn Flour : 1/2 Cup
  • National Salt : 1/4 Tsp
  • Baking Powder : 1/4 Tsp
  • Cold Water : 1 Cup
  • Oil : For Deep Frying
  • For Sweet and Sour Sauce
  • Oil : 1 Tbsp
  • Garlic Crushed : 1 Tsp
  • Ginger Crushed : 1 Tsp
  • National Tomato Ketchup :  1 Cup
  • National Chilli Powder : 1/2 Tsp
  • Sugar : 1 Tbsp
  • Chicken Stock/Water : 1 Cup
  • White Pepper Powder : 1/2 Tsp
  • National Vinegar : 2 Tbsp
  • National Soy Sauce : 1 Tbsp
  • Corn Flour : 2 Tbsp
  • Capsicum Cubes : 1/2
  • Onion Cubes : 1/2
  • Tomato Quartered : 1

Method

Clean the deveined prawns and them refrigerated

Heat some oil in a wok on medium temperature

Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Whisk them well to form a batter

Add prawns in to this batter and deep fry them till they turn golden brown

For Sweet and Sour Sauce

Heat some oil in a wok/pan and saute garlic and ginger

Add National Ketchup, National Chilli Powder and sugar. Cook while stirring till it starts sticking to the pan

Now add chicken stock/water, white pepper, National Vinegar, National Soy Sauce and bring it to a full boil

Mix corn flour with 1/2 cup of water and pour little at a time in the sauce and cook for few minutes till desired consistency

Add capsicum, onion, tomato and cook for few minutes on low heat temperature

Put the fried prawns in the sauce along with vegetables or serve crispy fried prawns on a side
